Stanley Yule is a firm of Chartered accountants and Registered Auditors that has been in existence for over 80 years predominantly serving the small and medium sized businesses.
Stanley Yule has three partners with its head office in Northfield Birmingham and a support office in Walsall giving us the ability to service the West Midlands area better.
At Stanley Yule, we offer a boutique of accountancy services which are designed to let you get on with what you do best: running your business successfully. Most importantly we have the experience of dealing with various business sectors so you can rest assured that you are getting a professional service.
From auditing your books to advising you on taxation to administering your payroll and book keeping, you can count on us to provide even the most basic services with the highest level of professionalism.
We can also provide more specialised services, tailored to the unique needs of your organisation. Most importantly, we have never forgotten the importance of the ‘personal touch’. We’re more than happy to tailor our working day to suit yours – you can arrange to see us at times which are convenient to you. Our base is in a prominent location in Northfield, away from the city centre with its associated overheads. It’s easy to reach, with plenty of secure parking spaces available for our clients.
The Team
Ian Bidmead (FCA - Partner)
Ian qualified as a chartered accountant in 1986, initially training with a major independent Birmingham firm and after qualification moving into specialist management consultancy work, focussing on business planning, rescue, management buy outs and buy ins. In 1991 Ian purchased the practice Stanley Yule, with the intention of bringing the specialist skills more associated with large practices to clients who would otherwise not had access to at a cost base more appropriate to their circumstances.
Ian has dealt with most of the business acquisitions and disposals handled by the firm, and given the success in guiding clients this has been a steady and regular source of work for the practice over the years, specialising in deals for the smaller business (up to £10m consideration).
Out of the accountancy world Ian also has business interests in manufacturing, which helps him gain the unique insight of knowing what it is like running a business that is not accountancy based. In addition to the consultancy work, Ian is the lead responsible individual for the audit work and also deals with specialist taxation issues and has a wide and practical experience in dealing with all types of HMRC enquiries.
For down time Ian likes to spend time with his family, enjoys good music, food and film and is known to be able to throw himself around a badminton court with enthusiasm, if not a great deal of skill.
Birgitt Saunders (FCCA ACA - Partner)
Birgitt moved from Germany to England in 1989 with her family and is proficient in written and spoken German. Birgitt worked as a finance manager in industry until she joined Stanley Yule in 2001 as a semi senior accountant. Birgitt demonstrates an example of successful progression from trainee to partnership in 2007.
During her time with Stanley Yule Birgitt gained valuable experience in all aspect of accountancy, taxation and audit matters and qualified as a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants in 2004. She recently gained membership of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.
Her role involves all aspect of client’s contact and the managing of several audit assignments. Birgitt proactively looks after the day to day administration of the Northfield office and her client portfolio varies from small to medium size companies and unincorporated businesses.
Gulraj Mankoo (FCCA - Partner)
Gulraj qualified as a chartered certified accountant in 2004 having trained with a small independent Birmingham firm. After qualification he joined us to progress and become a partner in 2007. He is able to communicate in Swahili, Punjabi, Hindi and Gujarati and of course English!
Gulraj is experienced in dealing with owner managed businesses, along with a vast experience in compliance work, He also specialises in tax investigations, tax planning and management consultancy. As a result of Gulraj’s hands on approach with clients and the ability to communicate with clients on all levels, he is very popular with clients.
Gulraj is also involved in client liaison matters, marketing and day to day matters of the busy practice. He is also highly involved on a volunteer basis in a very busy local Charity.
Outside of work Gulraj enjoys good food, football, cricket ,motor sports and cars.
Philip Rolle (FCCA – Associate)
Philip qualified as a chartered certified accountant in 1989 and since then he has specialised in providing taxation advice. He has nearly thirty years experience of assisting individuals and small businesses. His independent, level-headed approach engages others and swiftly establishes trust.
As a founding partner in Thompson Rolle & Co, Philip built a profitable niche accountancy practice from scratch and sold it at a premium to the market. He now deals with tax planning assignments for Stanley Yule, including those for high net worth individuals and businesses. A flair for managing difficult and
contentious cases has led to regular involvement with them. This means that Philip is seen as a “go-to” person for clients who have HMRC enquiries, or disputes in relation to their tax affairs.
Philip is also responsible for the firm’s tax consultancy and litigation support service, which represents a growing area of work and is establishing excellent business relationships with other professional firms.
Away from the office, Philip enjoys cricket, more cricket, and walking.
Adam Law (FCCA)
Adam is an experienced Senior Accounts/Audit Manager who joined us in October 2011.He qualified with a top fifteen practice and has a broad range of skills gained whilst working in general practice.
These include auditing small and medium sized companies with turnovers of up to £20m, auditing charities and grants, accounts preparation for owner managed businesses, management accounts and ad hoc assignments such as due diligence. He has strong IT skills including a good knowledge of Sage. Adam has experience of clients across a broad range of industries including manufacturing, construction, property and numerous service industries.
In his spare time Adam likes to spend time with his young family.
Nita Kotecha (ACCA)
Nita is a qualified chartered certified accountant who joined us in 2007 as a trainee accountant.
Nita is involved in the accounts production department and also provides book keeping training and support to clients.
Outside work Nita enjoys spending time with her family and cooking.
Barbara Britton
Barbara has worked for Stanley Yule for over 25 years and is our longest serving employee. She is highly experienced in payroll, P11D compliance, VAT and book keeping, Sage software training and accounts preparation.
Barbara has excellent liaison skills and is very popular with clients as a result of her hands on and helpful approach.
In her spare time Barbara enjoys walking, socialising and spending time with her family, her grandchildren take up a lot of her time.
Kate Kozurek
Kate joined the practice in 2012 as an accounts trainee. She is working towards gaining her qualification as a chartered accountant. She holds a degree in BSc English language and sociology and an MA Applied Linguistics.
Kate is also involved in the day to day administrative functions of the firm.
Outside work Kate enjoys cooking, reading, cars and socialising.
Hilary Froome
Hilary joined the firm in 2006 as our office administrator and is involved in all aspects of administration of the practice. Hilary has a strong management background and was a manager of a haulage business in Birmingham for over 15 years.
In her spare time, Hilary enjoys reading, wildlife and spending time with her family.
Janet Bidmead
Janet has worked for Stanley Yule for over 10 years. She is highly experienced in the payroll department. She is also involved in the administrative function at our Walsall office.
Janet works part time with us and holds another job as the credit control manager of a successful French polishing company.
In her spare time Janet enjoys cooking, cycling , walking and reading.
